Frédérique Andry-Cazin, “Stories of Masks”: an Exploration of Mask Culture in Pandemic Times
When the surgical mask appeared in our daily lives in the spring of 2020, it became the object of much attention. The Heritage Observatory of the Sorbonne University – OPUS Alliance then launched a series of actions and events highlighting masks in all their diversity.
In this talk, Jennifer L. Morgan (Professor of Social & Cultural Analysis & History at New York University) uses the history of three black women from the sixteenth and seventeenth century to explore questions of methodology and evidence in the early history of the Black Atlantic.

Featuring Dr. Valérie Berty (NYU Paris), Dr. Renaud Boukh (Editions Héliotropismes), and Prof. Emerita Eileen Julien (IU Bloomington)
Penda Diouf writes for the performing arts (theater, opera, music, and dance). Her plays have been translated into German, English, Armenian, Czech, and Finnish. She has received various awards for her plays in France and in Germany, and has held residencies at the Royal Court in London, the Institut Français in Tunis, the Villa Albertine in New York and the Théâtre National in Strasbourg.
