Presentations and discussion on the topic of representation in 17th-century European painting. Dalia Judovitz (Professor Emerita, French and Comparative Literature, Emory University) presents a talk on “Self-Aware Painting in Georges de La Tour.” Richard Neer (Barbara E. and Richard J. Franke Distinguished Service Professor in Art History, Cinema & Media Studies, and the College at the University of Chicago) presents a talk on “Visual Acuity and Spiritual Exercise in French Realism, ca. 1620- ca. 1650.”
